What to Expect at FirstOntario Centre Events

A HOME FOR SPORTS

The FirstOntario Center isn’t merely a place for teams, but a venue that strikes the feeling of a club, where sports fans and players have not just a venue for their matches, but a home for their team and passion. The Hamilton Bulldogs, one of the major junior ice hockey teams in the Ontario Hockey League, and National Lacrosse League stars, The Toronto Rock, have proudly used the FirstOntario Center as their home arena. Despite the plans for the Center’s grand renovation, both teams can play their entire 2023/24 seasons at the site, giving themselves and their fans more time to enjoy the arena before it’s transformation.

ELECTRIC ATMOSPHERE

There is nothing quite like sitting with thousands of other fans as you watch a live match unfold before your eyes, the heart stopping and heart pumping shocks and highs that go hand in hand with live sports. Across the decades, many teams and different sports have been stoked to play at the arena, and with a seating capacity that sits up to 19,000 it isn’t hard to feel that the synergy of FirstOntario Center is epic and unique in the sporting world.

A BIT OF DANGER

The FirstOnatrio Center isn’t afraid to let a little danger into its grounds. In January 2014, the action sports collective, Nitro Circus performed at the stadium for the first and only stop in Canada for their first North American tour. Renowned for their risky dirtbike tracks, BASE jumping and dangerous stunts, many venues shook their heads at hosting Nitro Circus due to the high risks in their performances. Yet, with the layered seating and the underside of the upper bowl spreading above the concourse level along with the spacious arena floor, the FirstOntario Center was able to host the adrenaline pumping event with ease, giving space for the Nitro team to show off their skills and for audiences to enjoy it. The heart of The FirstOntario Center is sports, and it is unwilling to turn down any chance for teams and fans to experience the wide array of events that the sporting world gives.

COMMUNITY

The FirstOntario Center is a hub of sports and music events that manage to twine in a way that celebrates the best of sports and music occasions, combining the adrenaline and atmosphere these two important life loves have, giving community to both its audiences and performers. This year the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and 2023 Grey Cup Festival proudly unite to create a festival that has venues in Canada holding events, with the FirstOnatrio Center hosting the Friday night and headlining music superstar Carrie Underwood. A lot of venues would quiver at the thought of headlining such a global music phenomenon, particularly on the opening night of a weekend festival, but it’s no sweat for FirstOntario Center with its vast seating options and great concert area that is made up for such events.

THE JOY OF LIVE MUSIC

As well as being a part of community events, the FirstOntario Center can hold its own as the singular venue for music events. Rock ‘n’ roll bands BUSH and The Glorious Sons are both performing at the arena for 2023/24, and the Center is stoked to be housing two different acts on opposite spectrums of the bad ass music genre that is rock. The magic of Disney will also be coming to life at the Center, as the wonderful Disney On Ice show schedules limited performances that will bring families together in the festive season with all the sparkles, imagination and enchantment that Disney is renowned for.
